Page thumbnails

Each page appears as an interactive thumbnail card in the grid. Here's what each element shows:

1

Page preview

The main area shows a visual thumbnail of the page content. This helps you identify pages before selecting them.

2

Page number badge

A badge in the bottom-right corner shows the page number ("Page 1", "Page 2"...). This is the page's position in its source PDF.

3

Source filename

Below the thumbnail, you'll see the source filename (truncated with "..." if long). This tells you which PDF this page came from - especially useful when you have multiple files uploaded.

4

Selection indicator

Selected pages are visually highlighted. This makes it easy to see at a glance which pages you've chosen.

5

Action buttons

Each thumbnail has two action buttons in the top-left corner:
Preview (eye icon)
Rotate (rotate icon)

Page actions

Each page thumbnail has action buttons for preview and rotation:

1

Preview button (eye icon)

Click the eye icon in the top-left corner to open a larger preview of the page. Use this to verify page content before deciding whether to include it in your extraction.

2

Rotate button (rotate icon)

Click the rotate icon next to the eye to rotate this specific page 90° clockwise. Click multiple times for more rotation:
1 click = 90° (landscape)
2 clicks = 180° (upside down)
3 clicks = 270° (landscape other way)
4 clicks = 360° (back to original)

3

Individual rotation

Page rotation is per-page: you can rotate some pages while leaving others unchanged. This is separate from the "Unify page orientation" export option which affects all pages globally.

Export options

The EXPORT OPTIONS panel controls how your extracted pages are saved:

1

Unify page orientation

When checked: All pages are rotated to match the same orientation (all portrait or all landscape).
When unchecked: Each page keeps its original or individually-set rotation.

2

Custom output filename

When checked: You can specify a custom name for the output PDF file.
When unchecked: The tool uses a default name based on source files and selected pages (e.g., "extracted_pages.pdf" or "filename_pages_1-5.pdf").

Custom filename
Use custom filename when you want a meaningful name like "Q4_Report_Summary.pdf" instead of the auto-generated default. Especially useful when extracting from multiple source files.

Statistics counters

At the bottom-right of the screen, two counters show your extraction status:

1

Pages counter

Shows the total page count across all uploaded PDFs. Example: "46 PAGES". This is the total available pages to choose from.

2

Selected counter

Shows how many pages you've selected with an orange background. Example: 0 SELECTED when no pages are chosen, 12 SELECTED after selecting 12 pages.

This counter updates in real-time as you select/deselect pages.

Extracting & downloading

Once you've selected your pages, here's how to complete the extraction:

1

Review your selection

Before extracting, verify:
The SELECTED counter shows the expected number
Highlighted pages are the ones you want
Export options are configured correctly

2

Click EXTRACT PAGES

Click the orange EXTRACT PAGES button (with scissors icon) at the bottom-center of the screen. The extraction process begins.

3

Wait for processing

A progress indicator shows the extraction status. Processing time depends on:
Number of selected pages
Size of source PDFs
Any rotation/orientation changes
Your device's processing power

4

Download the result

Once complete, the result downloads automatically:
Single file: Downloads as a PDF with your custom filename or auto-generated name
Multiple files: When extracting separate PDFs, downloads as a ZIP archive containing all extracted files

5

Verify the output

Open the downloaded PDF to verify:
All selected pages are included
Page order is correct
Rotations are correct
Content looks as expected

Tips & Best practices

Leverage multi-file support
Unlike the Splitter, the Extractor accepts multiple PDFs. Use this to combine pages from different sources into one output document.
Preview before selecting
Click the eye icon on thumbnails to preview pages in detail. This ensures you're extracting the right content, especially from large documents.
Use custom filenames
Enable custom filename for meaningful output names. Meeting_Notes_March.pdf is more useful than extracted_pages_1-5.pdf.
Rotate before extract
If any pages are sideways, rotate them before extracting. This saves you from having to fix orientation after the fact.
Check the filename
When multiple PDFs are loaded, check the filename under each thumbnail to ensure you're selecting from the correct source document.
Originals stay intact
Extraction creates a new file - your original PDFs are never modified. You can extract different page combinations without affecting the sources.

Frequently asked questions

Yes! Unlike the PDF Splitter, the Page Extractor supports multiple files. Upload several PDFs and select pages from any combination of them. All selected pages will be combined into one output PDF.
The Extractor lets you cherry-pick specific pages from one or more PDFs into a single output. The Splitter divides one PDF into multiple parts (ranges or individual pages). Use Extractor for selective picking, Splitter for systematic division.
Each page thumbnail shows the source filename below it. This helps you identify which PDF each page originally came from when you have multiple files loaded.
No, page reordering is not available in the Extractor. Pages appear in their original order from the source PDFs. If you need to reorder pages, first extract them, then use the PDF Merger tool which supports drag-and-drop page reordering.
Internal links to pages not included in the extraction won't work. External links (to websites) remain functional. Bookmarks pointing to extracted pages should work.
Password-protected PDFs are not currently supported. If your PDF requires a password to open, you'll need to remove the protection first using a dedicated tool.
No hard limit - you can upload multiple files with many pages. Practical limits depend on your device's memory. Most devices handle hundreds of pages easily.
No. Extraction pulls pages as-is without re-encoding. Text, images, and vectors remain exactly as in the original files. There's no quality loss.
In the Extractor, each page can typically only be included once. If you need duplicates, extract once, then use the PDF Merger to combine multiple copies.
Yes. This tool runs entirely in your browser (client-side). Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server. When you close the page, all file data is cleared from memory.
