Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Word to PDF?

Drop your DOCX files. Each one converts on its card. Choose one PDF per file or one PDF, then select Convert and download.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and your files never leave your device.

Does the PDF match Microsoft Office exactly?

Close, not exact. The fonts are open substitutes for the Microsoft fonts, so the letters look slightly different. A chart whose text the fonts cannot show is marked Check charts.

Which files work?

Supported inputs include DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, XLS, RTF, ODT, ODS and CSV. Check the formats listed in the import area. Old DOC files and password-protected Office files are not supported. Review every converted file because this tool is in Beta.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no usage limits and no watermark.

Technical details

Engine

The MORELESS document engine sets each document with Skia (CanvasKit) in a worker on the page and loads only the fonts the document needs. The worker closes after 90 seconds without work.

Formats

The import area lists supported document, spreadsheet and presentation formats. Unsupported, encrypted and damaged inputs are reported separately. Conversion is in Beta, so review tables, charts, page breaks and fonts in the downloaded PDF.

Checks

Every part of an Office file must match its size and checksum before conversion, so a damaged file is refused instead of converted half way.
