How to watermark a PDF

Drop one or more PDFs, or select them.

Watermark options

Text

Any text in any script, in bold, in any colour you choose.

Image

A PNG keeps its transparency, so a logo sits on the page without a box around it. JPEG works too.

Angle

Straight, 45 or 90 degrees, or any angle you set.

Position

Nine places on the page, or tiled over the whole page.

Over or behind

Over the content, or behind it like paper with a print.

Many files

Each file is watermarked on its own, and you download them together as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add a watermark to a PDF?

Drop your PDF, type the text or add an image, then select Download PDF. Several files download together as a ZIP.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Choose Range and enter pages such as 1-3, 5 in Pages to watermark. Numbers follow all pages in the workspace. Choose All pages to watermark every page. Download keeps every page of each PDF.

Why can I not see a watermark set behind?

Some pages paint a full background, a scan for example. A watermark behind the content is then covered. Choose Over for those files.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The files and the image stay in your browser and never leave your device.

Is it free?

Yes. No account, no usage limits, and no watermark of ours.

Technical details

Processing

The watermark is written into each page in a background worker in your browser. Text is shaped with HarfBuzz and set in Noto fonts, fetched only for the scripts you use.

Opacity

Below full strength the watermark is one transparent layer, so overlapping letters do not get darker.

What stays

Pages, links, bookmarks and form fields stay as they were. The page count does not change.
