Frequently asked questions

How is meeting cost calculated?

The estimate is elapsed time in hours multiplied by the number of participants and the average hourly rate per person. For example, eight people at 75 per hour cost 300 for a 30 minute meeting. Enter the rate in the currency you selected.

Can I change the hourly rate and currency?

Enter one average hourly rate for all participants and choose from 25 currency formats, including USD, EUR, GBP and CZK. Choosing a currency changes the display format without converting the rate. While the timer runs, a rate or headcount change recalculates the whole current estimate. Changing any setup field while paused resets elapsed time.

How many participants can I add?

Choose 1 to 500 participants. Standup, 1:1, Planning and All-hands presets fill in a headcount, rate and planned duration that you can change. The calculator uses one average rate, rather than separate rates for each person.

Can I copy the meeting cost summary?

Copy a plain text summary with elapsed time, people, hourly rate, planned minutes, cost per minute and the current estimated cost. Add it to meeting notes or use it to compare sessions.

Does the timer stop at the planned duration?

No. Planned minutes calculate a projected cost and show progress against the plan. The elapsed timer and live estimate continue beyond that duration until you pause them. Set a plan from 1 to 1440 minutes.

Where are my rates and settings saved?

Calculations run in your browser. Settings and recoverable session state are saved there too, with no account required. Clearing site data or using temporary browser storage can remove them. The estimate does not automatically add overhead, taxes or salary conversions.

Technical details

Timestamp calculations

Elapsed and remaining time are calculated from saved timestamps and the device clock, rather than counting display updates. Changing the system clock can affect the result. Hidden tabs and suspended devices can delay phase changes and alerts.

Local session storage

Mode settings and recoverable session state are saved in IndexedDB in this browser. Clearing site data or using temporary browser storage can remove them. Countdown links also contain the event details needed to reopen the shared card.

Browser cues

Sound uses the browser’s audio API. Notifications require permission, and vibration depends on device support. There is no screen wake lock, so keep the device awake and the page open when you need timely cues.

Shared timing modes

Timer, Stopwatch, Countdown, Pomodoro, Interval and Meeting cost each have a dedicated page. They share a timer engine and local session storage, so switching between these pages can restore the saved state for each mode.
