How to use it
Choose Format and, if needed, enter a Custom format using the displayed number placeholders.
Set the starting number, text size and Position. Page 1 number names the number printed on that source page. With Skip first page, the control becomes Page 2 number.
Choose Pages to number and review the preview. Skip first page leaves the first page of each source document unnumbered.
Continue editing or download the complete PDFs.
Choose how numbers are written
The format can show the page number alone or include a total.
Choose Page 1 of N to include the final number.
Choose Custom to write your own label using {n} for the page number and {total} for the final number.
Set Page 1 number to the value that should appear on the first page.
Keep numbers clear of page content
Position, size and margin determine where the number sits.
Choose a position in the grid.
Adjust Size in points to make the label readable.
Increase Margin to move the number inward from the page edge. Check that it does not cover existing content.
Leave the cover unnumbered
You can number a subset and leave a cover page untouched.
Enter a page selection, or leave the field empty to use all pages.
Enable Skip first page if the first page is a cover.
Check the first numbered page and the final page before saving.
Download and check the result
The result view shows the created output. Downloading a file and checking its contents are separate steps.
Read the output name, count and size in the result view. If processing reported a problem, return to the settings and correct it before continuing.
Choose Download and keep the new file separate from your original. If several outputs are packaged together, open the archive to find them.
Open the downloaded result in a suitable viewer. Check the pages and content affected by this task. Keep your original until you are satisfied.
Output and limits
Numbering is per source document. A range limits where numbers are printed. It does not extract that range or remove other pages. With several files, check the beginning of each file and the relationship between the page’s position and its printed number.
