How to use it

  1. Choose Annotate within PDF editor. Select a marking, text, drawing, shape, image, link, note or form-field tool from the panel.

  2. Place the object on the page. Select it to change its available properties, move it or resize it.

  3. Use the layer list to select an existing object. Delete removes that object. Undo restores it.

  4. Before downloading, decide whether to enable Flatten annotations above the download action.

  2. Drag across the page to set the shape size.

  3. Select the object to adjust its style or move it. Check that it does not hide important content.

Choose editable or flattened marks

  2. Enable it to merge them into the page.

  3. Download a copy and verify both appearance and the intended editability.

  2. Type a short note.

  3. Select the note to adjust its font, size and position. Check it at a readable page zoom.

Create a field someone can fill in

Form fields add interactive answers to a PDF. A field name identifies the answer in the form.

  1. Choose Text field and draw its area on the page.

  2. Give the field a meaningful name. Set a default answer only if it is appropriate.

  3. Use the related checkbox, radio or dropdown tools for those answer types. Keep form fields editable and test the saved PDF before sharing it.

Download and check the result

The result view shows the created output. Downloading a file and checking its contents are separate steps.

  1. Read the output name, count and size in the result view. If processing reported a problem, return to the settings and correct it before continuing.

  2. Choose Download and keep the new file separate from your original. If several outputs are packaged together, open the archive to find them.

  3. Open the downloaded result in a suitable viewer. Check the pages and content affected by this task. Keep your original until you are satisfied.

Output and limits

Without flattening, supported annotations remain annotations in the PDF. Flattening merges their appearance into the page. This affects later editing in PDF readers. It does not make sensitive information underneath a mark disappear.

Annotations are placed on individual pages. Watermark and Page numbers are the dedicated tools for repeated marks across a page range. The combined editor download also includes pending changes from its other tabs.
