How to use it
Add both versions and choose the files labelled Original and Revised. Extra files are not automatically part of the comparison.
Choose Text to compare words and positions, or Visual to compare page appearance, including images.
For scanned pages, enable Use OCR and review the language choice. Adjust Ignore case and Ignore whitespace when those differences are irrelevant.
Select an entry in Changes to inspect it. Sync scroll keeps the documents together. A narrow window lets you switch between Original and Revised.
Save and download the comparison report.
Choose text or visual comparison
Text compares words and their positions. Visual compares the appearance of pages, including images.
Check which file is Original and which is Revised.
Choose Text for wording changes. Choose Visual when layout and image changes matter.
Wait for the comparison to finish before interpreting the change count.
Reduce irrelevant text differences
Ignoring case or spacing can make substantive wording changes easier to inspect.
Enable Ignore case when uppercase and lowercase should count as equal.
Enable Ignore whitespace when differences in spacing are not important to this review.
Leave these disabled if case or spacing changes are part of what you need to find.
Inspect a reported difference
A change count is a starting point. Read the actual changed content on both pages.
Select an item in Changes.
Compare the marked areas. Red indicates original content and green indicates revised content. Gray outlines moved content.
Use Sync scroll to keep both documents aligned while inspecting nearby context.
Download and check the result
The result view shows the created output. Downloading a file and checking its contents are separate steps.
Read the output name, count and size in the result view. If processing reported a problem, return to the settings and correct it before continuing.
Choose Download and keep the new file separate from your original. If several outputs are packaged together, open the archive to find them.
Open the downloaded result in a suitable viewer. Check the pages and content affected by this task. Keep your original until you are satisfied.
Output and limits
The output is a report, not an edited or merged copy of either source document. Added content belongs to Revised, removed content to Original. Changed entries pair the two sides. A visual difference can describe a region rather than a single text edit. Recognition and complex layouts can affect the result, so inspect the highlighted pages.
