How to use it
Choose line or area marking. Click the text to remove, draw a rectangle, or search for text and use Mark all for the intended matches.
Review every marked area and its page. Choose the redaction fill colour.
Decide whether Remove metadata should also clear document properties.
Run Redact, download the output and check that the targeted content can no longer be searched, copied or revealed.
Find and mark sensitive text
Search marks matching text for removal. Review the matches before creating the redacted output.
Enter a word that must be removed.
Read the matches and choose Mark all only if every match should be redacted.
Inspect each marked area. Sensitive content in images may need manual area selection.
Choose the fill and remove properties
The fill covers removed areas. Document properties can contain separate private information.
Choose Black or White according to the intended appearance.
Enable Remove metadata if document properties should also be removed.
After saving, inspect every redacted page and try searching or copying the removed text. Do not distribute the original by mistake.
Download and check the result
The result view shows the created output. Downloading a file and checking its contents are separate steps.
Read the output name, count and size in the result view. If processing reported a problem, return to the settings and correct it before continuing.
Choose Download and keep the new file separate from your original. If several outputs are packaged together, open the archive to find them.
Open the downloaded result in a suitable viewer. Check the pages and content affected by this task. Keep your original until you are satisfied.
Output and limits
A mark in the editor is a pending instruction. The redacted output is created when you run the operation. Work from a copy because redaction intentionally removes content. For scanned pages, verify the image area as well as any OCR text. Crop, a black annotation and a watermark are not substitutes for redaction.
